  • 15 cm or 20 cm across
  • Layered fleece frills with hiding pockets
  • For dry food or small treats
  • Colours: red, white and green, or rainbow
  • Machine washable (supplier advice)

A snuffle ball is a round snuffle mat: dozens of layered fleece frills stitched to a soft core, with gaps and pockets between them. Tuck a few pieces of your dog's dry food or some small treats into the folds and let them nose them out.

It comes in two sizes. The 15 cm ball is about 15 cm across and suits small dogs; the 20 cm ball is about 20 cm across and has more folds to search. Choose red, white and green, or rainbow.

Getting started

The first few times, put treats near the edges where they are easy to find. Once your dog has the idea, push them deeper into the folds. Count what goes in as part of their daily food.

Washing

Shake out the crumbs after use. The supplier says the fleece can be machine washed; let it dry fully.

Safety
  • Supervise your dog every time they use it. It is a sniffing toy, not a chew toy.
  • Fleece can be shredded and swallowed. Take it away if your dog starts chewing or pulling at the strips, and stop using it if it is torn.
  • Put it away out of reach after each session.
  • Use only foods that are safe for dogs.

More ways to slow down treat time: a suction lick mat or a rotating treat feeder.
